FAR – Feifer Assessment of Reading

Are you looking to know where you child struggles in reading? Are you concerned your child has dyslexia? I offer the FAR – Feifer Assessment of Reading for a reading assessment* to help you with these questions.

Feifer Assessment of Reading is for students ages 6-23.

If you are just wanting a basic assessment that lets you know your child’s current reading level, I also offer the GORT for a smaller fee and you can read about it here.

I can help you pinpoint the source of struggles for your child and determine if dyslexia may play a role.

*This assessment will need to be those within driving distance of Lee’s Summit, Missouri to be given in person.

FAR Assessment Details

This is a great assessment to give a very detailed breakdown of where your child struggles in reading and if they may have dyslexia.

Information

The FAR can be used to provide more detailed information on where your child struggles and his/her reading related behaviors and help you know more specifically where to target intervention. It provides an extensive report that I will go over with you.

The FAR addresses four specific subtypes of dyslexia:

  • Dysphonetic dyslexia
  • Surface dyslexia
  • Mixed dyslexia
  • Reading comprehension deficits

Comprises 15 individual subtests measuring various aspects of vocabulary, phonological awareness, decoding skills, rapid automatic naming, orthographical processing, morphological processing, word memory, reading fluency (word and story; silent and oral), and comprehension skills.

What the Assessment Fee Includes:

  • The 2-hour session to give the assessment
  • Detailed follow up report.
  • Approx. 1 hr. Zoom session with you to walk you through the report and results.
  • If requested a note to your doctor asking they review the report and help you seek further assessment, or if they concur with the outcome, they may choose to write a dyslexia diagnosis so that you can pursue a 504 plan at school. (I am not recognized as being able to diagnosis dyslexia, but I can give the assessment and provide you the detailed report to pursue a diagnosis.)
  • List of accommodations needed for any 504 plan pursued in the public school.

  • A personalized letter to your school requesting an IEP or 504 plan.
  • 504/IEP consultation to help you understand the process.
